Ideal Humidity For Better Sleep ($70)

A low humidity level can cause dry & itchy skin, might make you susceptible to colds & infections, and can cause damages to your wood furniture and floors. You also don’t want the humidity to be too high, since it can encourage mold growth, muggy condition, and might even cause sleep discomfort.

This automation routine will help you to control the humidity at a reasonable price.

How Does It Work?

  • Install humidity sensors and humidifiers in each of the rooms that your family sleeps
  • Trigger: Have a look at the average humidity levels in each room to decide two of the possible options:
    • Switch on the humidifiers each day at a ceratain period of time. The automation will switch them off if the humidity levels are over a certain level
    • Switch on the humidifiers only if the humidity levels fall below a certain threshold
  • Condition: this automation should work only if you are at home
  • Action: turn the humidifier on and off depending on the trigger mode
  • Note: do not forget to fill humidifiers with water

ADVANCED

  • You can use a door sensor to make sure that you do not forget to fill the water in your humidifier

  • leakSMART Water Leak Detection Kit (Price not available) is a more expensive option. It has all you need to set you up shut off valve. There are some negative comments on the hub but it works well in general.
  • Grohe 22503LN0 ($575.00) is even more expensive. For the additional price, you have flow sensors capable to detect the pipe bursts without the sensors and better overall build quality. At the same, it has fewer options for integrating with your smart hub.
