In many countries, like the UK or Netherlands, the council will collect different types of waste on different days. In the case of London where I live, our council would pick up a recycling bin every month and general waste every other week. It is very annoying when you forget to put out the bins in the evening before and have to do it in a rush in the morning or miss the week.

It is easy to set up a reminder system that notifies you that bins need to be taken out in the evening.
How Does It Work?
- Trigger: This is very individual, but in my case, in the day before the trash pick-up my hub will remind that the trash has to be taken out.
- Conditions: The reminder will only work if I am at home or just came in.
- You can do reminders in a couple of ways:
- Through your voice assistant
- Your smart bulb can light certain color as the reminder
ADVANCED TIP: Main thing to improve in this automation is to make sure that the reminder will only work if nobody has already moved the bins (we have great neighbors). I am exploring various steps like vibration sensor and so on. Another idea is the proximity sensor based on Bluetooth, but it requires more tinkering. Please let me know in comments if you have any better ideas

Fantastic idea!
I wonder if using a cheap IP camera (Like a Tapo) would recognise if the bins were in/out?
